Default video of axle... is the boot wobbly or just me.?

http://youtube.com/watch?v=jWJSDySCNkk

i had to host it on youtube because i took it with my treo and we-todd doesnt support it.

when i press the gas you can feel the car shake... but not when its just rolling.

wheel bearing, axle joints....

dont think the actual axle shaft is bent.

this made me think motor mounts.

my gator axles do that shake too, and I also experience some shaking but mine happens on and off the gas. mine seems to vary though with the height I set my suspension at. now that Im back on my stock suspension, I dont feel it as much. I had my wheels balanced twice to make sure it wasnt the wheels. Im thinking its something with my suspension because the car was hit previously, or something with the axles. I havent had a chance to compare with a set of stock axles.

going by your description only, it's the axle. Worn inner joint.

If you are just rolling at a constant speed and the vibration starts when you accelerate then goes away as you let off then it's the axle.

Car or Steering Wheel? Cause it is the tires or Axle if steering wheel.

Car shaking would be motor mount or tires....

My car has had the same problem lately... the "wobble" or "shaking" seems to go away sometimes though. It's definitely the inner CV, my inner CV wobbles like that too.

I only notice mine at normal crusing up around 70-80mph, and it will change if Im on or off the gas. sometimes it worse than others. On the way to VIR the whole trip down it would come and go. While on the track, didnt notice it at all. If im ripping down the 1/4mile track WOT, there doesnt seem to be any shaking or vibration at all. It seems to be very sensitive to throttle position and load on the car. I plan to get new axles so well see if that fixes it.

yeah, you can feel it in the steering wheel also.

ive "rebuilt" this axle before, when i say rebuilt, i mean that i had to pop open the boot and re-align the shims that are in it.. im thinking they have been knocked out of place.

maybe ill do it tomorrow. and i will def. look over the motor mounts. when i had the old motor in there i used the motor mount inserts, and i think i kept them when i put the stock motor back in.

thanks for the responses.

**update**

so i took the driver side axle out, (left the halfshaft still connected).

the boot on the side where the big axle nut goes is pretty solid, no play or anything.

but the boot on the side that slides into the halfshaft has a decent amount of play. more than the other side.

plus ive noticed that there are few small holes and grease all over the alternator and other places. soooo, im guessin the boot/axle has to be swapped out and that is why the axle is wobbly.

my other Q is: can the lower joint on the knuckle be swapped out?

i found this pic online, its not of my car but its the best pic i could find.

is the lower joint where it connects to the lower control arm.

if there is little or no grease in there, I would think its possible the joint is damaged causing the wobbling?? Im not sure but thats what I would assume. If thats the case, adding grease and fixing the boot wont fix the wobble. But Im just speculating.

Ive had axle boot rips and holes before and just took some silicone to it and sealed it up. worked like a charm. just clean it thoroughly and then apply a healthy dab of silicone.

yeah thats the lower ball joint. a PITA to get out of you dont take the arm off but it can be done.

I'd change the axle... if not then I'd look into the transmission

yeah, that is what i am afraid of.. the tranny...

im debating whether or not i should just fill the axle with grease, or get a new one.

i wanna go the cheap way, but i dont know how cheap i can get

ill take a look at that too..
wheels are brand new. car has hardly been driven since the new tires were on. maybe a weight fell off.

im going to fix this axle and see if it pops up again. hopefully its something simple like weights.
