Default b18c5 with ctr pistons

I was wondering if there are any clearence issues with ctr pistons in a stock b18c5 i.e. piston to valve clearance issues or other issues. I already know that they will raise the compression where a good tune is necessary and more fuel/higher octane is a must as well.

I've read in more than one post on this forum that CTR pistons are junk. The dome is too high creating the potential for hot spots. If it was me i would change out the pistons/rods with some aftermarkets. Since the engine's gonna have to come apart anyway, why not build it up?

you need to stop reading and giving an opinion where you dont have first experience about it.
i've been running ctr piston on my itr for over 50,xxx miles/2 years with stock ecu on pump gas/91 oct. no hondata, vafc, and etc. and i do drive the car daily and hard everyday. i did a before and after dyno and only gained 5 whp and 3 lbs of torque at the wheels. its not worth the money if this is only your only upgrade.

heres the current mods.
oem head blueprint.
ctr piston .20 over
itr rods
eagle crank light/balance/knife edge.
acl bearings
stock oem headgasket
act clutch/8 lbs flywheel
ats 4.9 final drive.
made about 185 whp at do it dyno/little over 134 lbs torque.

Don't know how easily you would pass smog with compression that high on a stock ECU. NOX levels SHOULD be through the roof. Oh well, each to his own. You spend an awfull lot of money on "upgrades" to simply pass on tuning. Hence why you only gained 5whp with such a large increase in compression. Shouldn't be bashing people for thier opinions when you aren't really supplying much usefull information yourself...

The pistons have a VERY high dome, the dome will interfear with flame travel. They are also heavy, come out of the hole and will significantly reduce the amount of piston to valve clearance you will have. Obviously they will also raise your compression up to the sky. While you might think you are "ok" on your stock ECU, I would put money down that your car is detonating. What happens when this occurs? The knock sensor pulls timing to attempt to correct the sitituation. Ever wonder why you only gained 5whp? Starting to see the point here?

you're probably detonating like a mother and not even realizing it

i did had detonation problem in the beginning due to lack of fuel. motor was too lean. had adj fpr and pump added on and seems to fix the problem for now. all this stuff including labor only costed less than 1500 and wanted to see what gain i would have with it. reason i stayed with stock ecu was for smog. i am not planning of staying with b series since the factor of $$$ per hp seems better with the k. i just purposely blow up the motor 2 days ago to see how much abuse before it let go. already have a spare b going to my da and k will be going to my itr.

That bump in compression is not worth the trade-offs other have mentioned.
