Default steering wheel broke? spins over and over without moving tires

so i went to get my check today, and my car is not aligned so the steering wheel is on a angle about 30 degrees off, and i heard a pop when backing in and didnt think much of it, came out started the car and when i drove off the steering hweel was uspide down pulled over and popped again and now it spins freely, my dad came and took a look and said theres a bolt that looks loose on the steering colum near the floor boards, and he says theres 2 bolts, but one looks tight then a gap because the other looks lose.....

anyone know or ever been in this situation? im praying that its not the colum and needs replacing.

HELP ME!

From what you describe it could be numerous things. You need to visually inspect everything, while someone else turns the wheel, so you can see what turns and what doesn't and figure out what part of the steering system gave in.

Kinda scary that you were driving around like that, isnt it? I'm glad I live a few states away from any road you're on

Anyway, the bolts and linkage that your dad is talking about is the steering coupler that's located inside the car. There are 2 10mm bolts on that, I believe. It's been a while since i've taken a steering rack off one of those cars.....
