H22 & H23 Fuel Pump Compatibility?
Does anyone know if there are any differences in flow capacity between the H22 & H23 fuel pumps? I did a search, but the only thing I could find was that they have slightly different part numbers.
The reason I ask is that my fuel pump packed up a few weeks ago, so I swapped in a H23 pump. The car seemed to start, idle and drive just fine at low speeds, but when I tried hitting VTEC the engine bogged & cut out at around 5.5 - 6k rpm
If I can confirm whether the H23 pump doesn't have the same flow capacity as the H22, I'll go & buy A Walbro etc.

Still not sure on the answer to this.
How about this then, if anyone has ever done a H22 swap into a H23, did they also swap the fuel pump? If not, any issues?

Hey Dave,
Had a H23 fuel pump in my H22 swap for about 5 years now, and it's never been a problem at all.
As stated, it could be another bad pump (which would be bad luck!), or a problem with the FPR.
Did the engine just cut out after bogging, or was it misfiring at all?

Thanks for the replies guy's. The engine just cut out completely, with no misfiring.
It sounds like the replacement pump I had is a bit suspect. I've since bought a Walbro, but was just curious whether there was a difference or not.
In this thread they state that the two pumps have different part numbers https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=504138

However, if some of you are running H23 pumps with no issues, that's good enough for me

Yeah, I had the 2.3, then put the 2.2 vtec in (probably the first one in the UK to do it). Then I replaced the pump for other reasons for the Walbro HP 255lph pump.
The reason I ask about the misfire is because I wasn't sure if it might be coil/coil pack/crank sensor thingy on the crank pulley related. Obviously you're aware that misfiring at those revs can be a sign of a failing coil/ignitor, so wasn't sure if it maybe a problem along those lines.
Hopefully things will get sorted with the Walbro. Is the car still with Henry??

Yes, well the first thing I did when the original pump failed was swap in a new distributor, as I thought that was where my problem lay i.e. cranking over but not starting. I had to go through a process of elimination until I found it to be the pump.
I also suspected the aftermarket crank position sensor as you mention, but I hooked up the laptop, and the DTA software was showing no stored error codes from the crank sensor.
Car is still with Henry mate, he is setting up his own rolling road in-house, so I am waiting for that to be completed. He is then swapping in the Walbro & DSM injectors, before re-tuning it from scratch.
