Temperature control, '89 CRX
I have had this '89 CRX since the spring and the temperature control dial has always been stuck in the cold position. The plastic is cracked around the dial, so I'm not sure what happened to it. Now that it's about to turn cold, I need to have a means for some heat. The place I get the car worked on (I've used them for 10+ years) tells me to fix this requires the replacement of the whole temperature panel assembly.
A: is this true
B: how do you reference this part number if scouring the web or junk yards, etc
C: is there a "fix" that I could do to get me through the winter months? Can I jump a wire or cable and keep it in warm mode (same way it's stuck in cold mode now)?
Any information anyone out there has, I'd be appreciative.

My 89 crx si had the same problem. you can take the whole climate control out and unscrew the temperature selector off then remove the cables from their respective clamps (one is under the hood attached to the heater hose and the other is accessed via the passenger side under the dash).
The Honda part number is: 79510-SH2-A01
but is useless because they don't make it anymore.
I'm currently on the search for one too.
You could disconnect the cables from their clamps and turn them in a way that will give you heat. I don't know which way opens the valve but I'm sure alittle trial and error would get you through it.

If any one is interested, I have two climate controls for sale. One has the AC button and one doesn't. Both were from 88-91 ef hatches and both have the long control wires attached. Hit me up. Good Luck.

o how i dream of this piece... i found one at a junk yard and was so happy that the shaft wasn't broken, i didn't look at the rest of it. It ended up being useless
i have uncracked crx climate controls for 200 a piece shipped. they come with new ***** and a/c ***** that still make clicking sounds when you press them.
these are not fixed with plate climate controls, these have never been cracked. i can also put aerospace grade two part epoxy on the back where the unit usually crack with the buyer wants
