Default IACV Cleanout

I'm sure I'm just not searching right, but I couldn't find any instructions on exactly how to clean out my IACV. Is there a link anyone can give me?

2 bolts to loose it and use brake cleaner to clean it.

Is there anything else I can clean that is idle-related? Basically when cold my engine vibrates quite a bit at idle. I've already sprayed out the throttle body with TB cleaner, and it didn't fix the problem. I've read briefly on here about cleaning out the TPS and the FITv, but not too sure how to go about this. In fact, I don't even know what FITv stands for! Any suggestions?

Fast Idle Thermo Valve. It uses coolant to adjust a valve that adjusts your idle. An easy fix?...buy a new one.

But it can be cleaned out in some cases, correct? If so where exactly do I find it on a D16Y7, and do I just spray it out with brake cleaner? I'm definately going to try to do everything I can to fix the problem without just buying random parts. I have no CEL so I really don't know for sure what is wrong, so I figured I'd start out with cleaning up what I can and seeing if anything helps.

Yea i tried cleaning mine out and it was still fucked up from some throttle body cleaner i use here at work. Mine never threw a code either.

I know on my B Series its located under the throttle body. I'm not positive if it's in the same spot on D series' motors. If it's old and giving you problems I say just replace it. You can give cleaning it a shot though.

Well the problem is I don't really know if that's what's giving me problems. She's got 345,000 km's on her, and just lately has been giving me this cold idling problem, so I'm trying to eliminate things that it could be before I start spending money on parts.

Okay here you go the Iacv is located on the back of the intake it is held on buy 2 10mm bolts. This is one of the causes for idle problems when cold. The fitv if your engine has one is located under the TB and has a few coolant lines going to it. If there is a problem with it it will cause surging idle lets say from 500rpms to like 1500rpms after the car is warmed up. To test it once your car is warm remove the air intake at the TB you will see 2 holes inside the TB cover the bottom hole if you feel suction there then the fitv need serviced

Well my problem is only when cold, it's fine once it's warmed up, so can I rule out the FITv? And you're saying if there IS suction then the FITv needs servicing?

correct but the car must be up to opperating temp before you test it
