how to check transmition oil

Default how to check transmition oil

i have a 00 prelude and coming off of first gear it sounds kinda of nasty, like a dry squeak noise. i wanted to know how to check the oil on a manual transmission?

You could start with a manual for your car.

You can't really "check" the fluid in the traditional sense, it requires quite a bit of work to make sure it is even at the correct level.

Your best bet is to just drain and refill it with fresh oil. It isn't expensive.

Yeah its cheap even with Honda MTF, use Redline and then it gets expensive, but shifting is super nice!

Wheres the easiest place to a access hole to fill the tranny up with fluid?

The only place to fill it up is behind the 17mm bolt which is directly above the fill bolt.

Ya might as well while your under there. I mean you've obviously never changed it before so while youre in there get the piece of mine knowing you got new oil in there.

i fill my tranny fluid through the hole in the shifter housing from the top of the car.

is it really a 2step process? drain + refill? someone gimme a dummy guide, i wonder if that magical honda MTF will fix my shiftforks too!

dont use honda mtf, go to GM and buy GM syncromesh transmission fluid. It actually eliminates grinds. Im not BSing you either. The stuff is amazing and better than redline and so on. I put that stuff in my new tranny and it feels like butter. Slicing a hot knife through butter every shift lol

haw about for a Honda Prelude SI 1992. Is is the same way to change the oil in manual transmission? and wich one will be better?
