Default how much oil to put in jdm d15b

hey guys, well i found out that the mechanic place i went to change my oil overfilled it almost 1 quart. When they finished, my oil light was on and I went back to place and they added more. Anyways I'm gonna do my own oil change on my own and was wondering if 3.5 quarts is good? thx.

3.5 quarts is where you want to start, but don't simply use that number to indicate if it is full. The holes on your dipstick are the level indicators. The upper hole is full, the lower hole is 1 quart low.

Put 3.5 quarts and check the dipstick to see if it is in the safe area. Its when the oil level is between the holes. If its not just add it and check.

That's why engines are equipped with dipsticks, to monitor the level of the fluid and tell when to stop, and when not to.

On my D series I pour in 3.5qts, run it for a while let it settle and check it again later to see if I need more. Usually I am right at the second hole.

the mechanics that did the oil change put in oil and when they finished my oil light came on. I told them about it and they added more oil, i later found out that they passed the second hole on the dipstick to about almost an extra quart worth of oil.
