Default Which to get: Brembo Rotors or Generic Rotors? Q. about rear drums

Should I spend $70/each on Brembo Blanks (can anyone advise where to get these cheaper in Toronto) or just get $20/rotor at my local parts store. I will be matching these with Hawk HPS.

I may need rear brake replacements... what drum and shoes should I use? Would the replacement fix my seized ebrake on the passenger side.

autozone rotors do the same thing, are cheaper, and have a lifetime warrenty.

just buy the $20/rotor at your local parts store. i use the cheap rotors they stock at kragens.

as far as the rear drums go just get the cheap drum and any decent shoe.

Autozone rotors, my friend.

I FREAKIN HATED the hawk HPS lol. I'm not a big "dual duty" pad guy. I had HPS on my S13, and there was a ridiculous amount of dust even with just regular street driving. I drive an S2000 now...with Advan RG2s. I refuse to get any dust on them for just regular street driving. I use OEM pads for the street and EBC YELLOW track only pads when i go to the track. The OEM pads always seem to be just fine for "spirited driving". The same was true on my civic.

I probably set about 30 sets of brake pads on fire (seriously on fire...we'd put them out with sand..and they'd spontaneously combust again in a couple seconds) in my S13. But that car made a ton of power...and roadracing with stock brakes and way more power = brake fires.

I never really had problems with braking on even my "fast" civics. I especially had no problems on my stock "slow" civics.

My point is that the Hawk pads really aren't worth the dust. What do you have done your car? What kind of driving do you plan on doing? There's better brake pads out there.

I got these Performance friction carbon metallic pads for my GSR a couple of weeks ago. So far so good. Although, I really liked the stock Nissin pads on that car too.

I think if you just got bigger front brakes...like an EX or GSR setup, you could use milder pads that would dust less. I'm really **** about some of my wheels. I dont even bother cleaning my track set, though lol. They're all burned and dusty and orange from rusted brake residue.

All depends on what kind of driving you do. If aggressive I say the more expensive stuff. Point A to B driving get the cheap stuff.

in my experience cheap rotors can come right out of the box warped... i've also found that they warp easily compared to more expensive rotors. i beat the crap out of my brembos and they are fine after two years.

I figured that brakes were something that I'd like to spend money on, after its pretty important. I have brembo blanks and axxis metal master pads and they are amazing. the difference from stock **** to that was well worth the $350 or so for what I payed. I can drive 80 and lock the front tires (205 azenis) up if I slam on it hard enough. And I brake boost the **** out of my car, for like 10 seconds at a time sometimes, I doubt those cheap ones wouldn't warp. Whatever was on my car when I bought it sure did (don't know what they were, probably cheap ones)

all the guys in the RR/AX forum use duralast rotors b/c they are cheap and rotors are a disposable item. i personally change them when i get a new set of pads. my cheapo rotors held up well at laguna seca with hawk hp+ pads.

It's kind of weird, i'm not discounting your opinion, but I have had great experience with my Hawk HPS pads compared to others. Mine have good pedal feel when warmed a little and give very little amounts of dust with NO squeal. I definitely have heard mixed reviews though, some people I know have had horrible experiences with them.

I think you're wasting your money with the brembo blanks. I've never warped my GSR brakes (OEM rotors and Performance friction carbon metallic pads). I never even warped them with the stock NISSIN pads. Stock Honda brakes work surprisingly well. I've stopped my GSR from 130mph...some fade, but no warpage. I never resurface rotors when I get pads.....cuz they never warp enough for me to feel them.

My stock S2000 brakes didn't fade till like 35mins into a 45min session at road america. So now I run race pads when I track up.

Again, what do you even have done to the car and what kind of driving are you planning on doing? The Brembo blanks are a TOTAL waste of money, IMO.

Yeah, I guess i've heard mixed opinions too. The dust was just absolutely ridiculous on my S13. It was almost as bad as my EBC YELLOW track pads are. almost. The HPS held up OK to hard driving. Again, that car was pretty fast around a track...so I guess I could understand some fading. I drive like a pretty normal human being on the street, though lol. I definitely didn't need HPS for the street. Stock brakes would have been fine..and would have been a lot less dust. I hate getting my baller *** wheels dirty lol
