Default prepare to built a b20vtec in winter

ok, HT fellows, i did searched and try to grab as much info as i can for my built.
basically a normal stock sleeved built need the followings : (I had a complete B18c type R engine in my hand now)

b20 block
RS machine 84mm piston with choice of CR(i am choosing 11.5:1)
310cc at least injectors
ARP rod bolts
vtec kit
84mm head gasket

i can grab most of the thing easy in local but not the RS piston(living in Canada, but still, it's not hard)

then i recalled i did read some threads years ago about putting a b20 crank in a b18c5 something like that, (searched but did not come out anything)

question is : possible to do the crank swap only? if so, any modification needed? is it a bad idea or so.....? or i just go with the normal b20vtec built route?

thanks

if you put a b20b crank in a b18c5 you need to use the b20 rods as well. it's a fairly common thing for people to do for an oem stroker.

Look here, just did the B20/LS crank and rods into my gsr block

https://honda-tech.com/zero...age=1

The b20vtec will give you more torque than just a b20/ls crank in your type r block, even if you bored out to 82mm, the extra displacement from the 84mm b20 block makes a bit of a difference. I bored my gsr block to 81.5 with the b20 crank and rods, and its noticable slower than my buddy's ride with a b20vtec.

b20vtec will require a vtec conversion kit, you can get one from from Golden Eagle, but other than that, it would probably be easier and more beneficial to go b20vtec. Good luck
