I think I just cut the wrong wire, help (??)
I was happily taking apart my center console (which I'd done before to put in JDM shift boot, bling bling) so that I could get to my stereo wires. I've been following S&M Racing's guide to installing a power switch for your power antenna. I got all the goodies from Radio Shack and I found (at least I think) the yellow wire with the green stripe and cut it. Nothing. The antenna still goes up and down when I key the ignition. So did I cut the wrong wire? Is this not working like I expected or am I just hopelessly confused?
Here's the guide I was following: http://www.sandmracing.com/santennaswitch.html
pic to come in a few minutes...

Hmmm, I just installed the switch today. Sorry I haven't spliced into the wire yet, just installed the switch in the coin tray.
One suggestion I'd recommend over that guide you posted... if you're using quick-connect, use a male and female on the switch and m/f on the wire so if anything ever happens you can take the switch out without having to redo it. I'll let you know tonight/tomm when I finish it what the wire color is.

just get a voltmeter and check whatever wire you suspect to be the power antena wire, turn on the radio and check for 12v.
if you cut the wrong wire, just solder it back together.
do we really need pics of a cut wire? shrug.

eat my **** you sarcastic bitches... haha
fine... i had the pic all ready from we-todd... but since your flaming me now you don't get to see the exciting picture of my hand and the cut wire. so there. (not like it's a HOLE through a rear R seat picture or anything, D)
but seriously... it's the only wire i see that is yellow with a green stripe. i cut it expecting the antenna to come down and it didn't. so I turned ignition off and on and antenna of course is still doing what it did before. guess i'll get the voltmeter if no-one else has any suggestions, though i don't have one here with me.

the more i look at it, i think i cut in a different place then that guide.. i guess i didn't figure it would matter. And I got an IM from someone else that had cut the yellow/green-stripe wire and same thing happened (nothing)... I didn't pull out the stereo and it's connector because I saw the wire there out of the harness and figured it was the same. Guess it's not... hmm

Are you sure it wasn't from a different harness? I just looked at my radio harness and it's loomed all the way into a larger harness. No wires hang out....
[e]In the pic, does that y/g wire run into that small connector behind it? If so, you cut the wrong wire.

yup - thanks man. that's what i figured.
to trying to short cut.
i'll go pull out the stereo and look at that harness. i should have just pulled it anyhow, need to hook up my changer. (gawd i'm lame)
this is probably the same thing the other person that IM'd me with problems did too.

haha.. HT comes through again for Ben the dumbass.
Sackdz, you were correct-correct-correct. Whatever I cut, it's not the same wire... cause i got the connector from the back of the stereo out and cut it - and i can make the antenna raise and lower at will now.
now to hook it all back up... hehe

Uncle Ben:
What is all the fugging problem???
Just pull the radio out, turn your ignition on, get a test light and check the wires at the back plug of the radio. Turn the radio on and off. When you see the test light on, VOILA!
No need for colors, diagrams and voltmeters......
Test light at Discount Autoparts, $1.75
Knowledge, priceless...

got it all workin now - sweet.
thanks all for bearing with me while I bumbled around until I got it right. it's all extremely easy, should have just followed the damn instructions. i'm thinking about putting the switch in the blank where the cruise or sunroof would have been.
thanks sackdz and HT.
