Default Post your catch can setups

Im looking at setting up an oil catch can setup, possibly a cooler, and I wanted to see what some of you have done to your preludes. I remember seeing one here braided lines came off the valve cover in 2 different points to a can, I cant remember who it was though.

So share your setup and details

hope this kinda helps

dont do it like shown here, this didnt work because it wasnt vented , i changed the setup so that the 2 ports on the valvecover combine to 2 line to the can, and then the other port on the can is a vent to release pressure

I don't understand how the Vented cans with no vacuum work. You have 2 lines coming from the valve cover but how does oil end up in there. Does it just find its way to the line? Strange. This is how I have mine. The intake sucks the air through the catch can from the valve cover and deposits oil into the can. Yes it works because theres oil in there and I don't get my oil cloud when I RR anymore.
Can someone maybe tell me how the Vented, no vacuum cans work? I see them in quite a few setups.

Just thinking logical and staring at pics. I think there are 2 different concepts behind them.

The car is a 98 Prelude. It's a track car, i.e. never driven on the street. The engine is NA (as you can tell) and makes right around 204WHP on mostly stock internals. This setup cured all of my oil consumption and "burning" issues. The can mounts where the cruise control and EVAP canister used to be. Not really sure if it's suitable for a street car.

Plumbing is -12AN Aeroquip fittings with Startlite hose. The hose is rather pricey, but very, very light. I had some left over from my oil cooler install, so I decided to buy a bit more and use it for the valve cover breather.

No crap about the oil cap please. It was free.

These pictures were taken before the disconnect was wired up, so that's why the disconnect looks a bit funny with no wiring attached to it.

So I guess my Greddy catch can isn't worth a crap then. I have it routed from the intake manifold to the pcv valve. Whats the difference between a sealed catch can like mine comprared to the catch can that has the breather filters?

FWIW, I do not use the PCV system at all, but my car does not have to be emissions compliant. Once I ditched the PCV system, I stopped "burning" oil.

Does the standard PCV system have a design flaw or something?

Nice set up JT. No lines running all over the engine bay. What is the reservoir from?

That looks like a water separator for an air compressor.

My catch can is custom. It wasn't cheap, and neither was the Aeroquip hose.

not a design flaw, but it re-circulates oil into the intake....

look how much oil is in mine...

That's a simple air compressor water/oil separator. You can get them in different sizes from Home Depot.

No, just let it collect in there and it has a drain hose...
