reverse lights

Default reverse lights

A friend of mine told me the other day that when i go in reverse that my reverse lights dont come on anymore. i check the bulbs and they are fine. i know a little about the reverse switch on the tranny. but not enough to fix it. could any help me out with what i need to check? if possible please provide pics. and i did search already.

You need a volt meter to see if the PRNDL switch is giving power at R setting, maybe a bad ground back at the lights.

My reverse lights stopped working ages ago. Its a PITA trying to reverse into a busy street.

Im not sure if the switch is controlled by ground or power its been a while. But check with a voltmeter if your getting power with the ignition on, on one of the two bullet connector. Im almost 100% sure is a power switch someone might be able to shead some light.

I had to rewire an old 80s Accord with no backup lights, the center console shifter PRNDL switch gave power but none went back to the light sockets, so I just spliced into the PRNDL harness and ran a whole wire back to the trunk and spliced into the proper wire back there and called it good for the Japanese safety inspection.

i dont have an automatic. so i dont even want to hink about where to start with the splicing wires. thank for the suggestion though.

Then your reverse switch is on the transmission, start a new thread, this one is too old to get someone to give you a maintenance diagram from a repair manual on how to test your reverse switch, I bet its bad.
