Default timing belt problem

as soon as i pulled up to my driveway, i heard some weird noise...

i opened my hood and i heard the noise coming from my timing belt...

it looked normal to me...but when i revved my engine to about 4,000 rpm, you could see half of my cam gear....the belt looks like its slipping...

i dont know whats happening?...i dont wanna start my engine again cuz the timing belt may fully pop off

start taking things apart and get down in there and see whats up..and yes.. dont let it fall off..timing will go off and parts will collide.. mainly your valves and pistons.. together..and say bye bye to the D

likely a busted autotensioner, the belt is loose and is coming off. replace the autotensioner assembly.

You can see the timing belt? Am I missing something here?

If you leave the upper timing cover off, then yes, you can see the belt.

Well I realize that, but why would it be left off?

'cause it looks cool. The downside is crap gets in there and can mess up your timing belt or *cough cough*, the tensioner.
