Default news for everyone thats been healping me out

me and my buddy fixed my HG.
it was an 8hr ob.
we started a 6pm and ended bout 2:10am.
it was something new for me to learn from my friend.
did it for free.
all i have to do for him is burn him a few CD's.
we fucked up on the timing.
is there ne way we could fix it w/out a timming gun?

well, you could have "skipped a tooth" when putting the timing belt on. i think you can double check the marks on the crank pulley and head by just removing the valve cover.
how badly is it running? from what i hear a skipped tooth will make it run really badly, where as the timing (at the distributor) wont be as bad and its simple to fix.
did you use a timing gun to set your timing? or mark the distributor?

make sure your cam and crank marks all line up so you know the belt is on correctly, and try putting the dizzy as upright and straight as possible. only finger tighten the top bolt and get your friend to turn the car over while you adjust the dizzy, and when it catches you are in business.

get a timing gun they are like $20 at walmart
