Had an accident and they need to replace engine cradle
Hey guys,
Well a while ago some guy drove into my right front wheel area and they had to replace some suspension stuff, ended up costing about $3500 bucks so I figured it wasnt that serious. They installed all the suspension stuff and took it in today for an alignment and they said they couldnt get it back to spec, they said there could be possible engine cradle damage.
If they need to replace this engine cradle is that serious?
The engine cradle is not part of the frame of the car is it?
Appreciate all the input guys, thanks!

that would be the crossmember... and yes if the crossmember is tweaked changes are a new one wont really line up.... a REAL good body shop can tell u that...
Hmmm I looked on the list of parts but it doesn't specify them, I think it just put them all under a category. I will try and get a list of all the specific suspension parts.
All the new body panels and paint are installed, and suspension stuff so it looks brand new again but they couldn't get it aligned to spec so im worried its serious.

Just got an update from them and they said that the engine cradle is fine and what they need to replace is the upper and lower control arms which have come in and they are putting them on.
Is this still serious?

as long as the do it right and get a good alignment your ok... jsut ensure nothing bad got messed up with teh suspenion as it will throw off the geometry of the whole thing

Usually on the s2k the tabs around the ecentric spacer for camber, caster adjustment get bent, the tabs are part of the subframe. They fail way before the core subframe is affected, tabs are designed to be the weaker link. If they are in good condition then you have damaged suspension components from my personal experience at the dealer (thou not Always the case). The subframe also needs to be neutralized, this involves loosening all the bolts that hold the sub to the unibody and shifted into place (depending on the alignment readings). I highly doubt any damage to the unibody itself based on the pictures. I have had worse s2k's come in where replacing the subframe and suspension components did the job. If your in the dc/va/md metropolitan area pm me. good luck
subframe, engine cradle, beam, crossmember etc is all the same thing. Different manufacturers, shops, technicians like to call them whatever they please

you should try changing the LCA on that side, and if that doesn't work it might be the front subframe.
