Default time for a re-build?

i have a 95 gsr integra with 100k miles and i seem to be burning about a quart of oil every 2 wks im not 100% sure if it smokes at start up but i park really close to a couch in my garage and there is a little black circle right where my exhuast sits so im sure its comin from my car when i turn it on in the morning. I recently did a compression test and pulled 230 across the board and it seems to only smoke when im at real high rpm's or and WOT (blue smoke). anyone have any info or experience w/ this. Im pretty sure its the rings but im not lookin forward to tearin it down and rebuilding it .

blue would be oil. all vtec motors will burn oil at high mileage. mine is no different. i just don't mind filling up oil every few weeks. hardly ever hit vtec anyways.

your compression is very good.

mine smokes a little above 6000 rpm but if you are burning oil then this will happen. always makes me laugh when i see a trail of smoke following a vtec honda on the freeway.

Try both the dry and the wet compression tests to inspect the rings. A leakdown test will also provide insight.

The rings would be the most likely problem in any motor when you see the blue smokme out your tailpipe.

It is true however that any gsr will smoke with high mileage, or in some cases lower mileage.. half of the topics here have to deal with smoking gsr's.

My only advice would be to get your rings checked, and even replace them. Wouldn't hurt right? If the problem persists.. then look to other things.
