block gaurd??
I didnt like my block guard. I had problems with white smoke and coolant going through my system. I took the blockguard out, problems solved. It was installed by a shop as well so It wasnt install error. I have heard of people having issues with it besides me. If not not boosting alot like over 7-8psi I wouldnt. If you are and have money just sleave it.
Stock honda blocks are not designed for boost, so they have thin cylinder walls. When you do boost them, the cylinder journals are then under MUCH higher pressures than they were designed to under go. This is why people who build drag cars "sleeve" their blocks. Block guards are a cheap way to create a strengthening connection between the tops the tops of the cylinder walls and the exterior wall of the block, so they (in theory) can handle more boost.
This is true in track-only cars, and cars that are not driven "aggressively" (not under boost all the time), but block guards can create a hot spot at the top of your cylinder wall in the exact place where you don't want it-right at the top of your pistons stroke where your cylinder pressure is at its highest. This can lead to detonation/ping/BOOM/whatever you want to call it-its not good. So depending on your application, they can be a good idea, or a bad idea

Didn't I sell you a LS head n some Crower springs/retainers a couple weeks ago on ebay? No wait- it was a LS crank. What happened to you? Ebay said you aren't a registered user anymore?
Yeah you did! i don't know what happened ebay sent me a message saying something about i was taking advantage of ebay (like they thought i was using a someone elses name and info) so i made up a new one sorry abuot not being able to leave feedback...but anyway i have it sleeved do you think that's enough?
stock honda sleeves can handle quite a bit of power. plenty of people making 400whp on stock sleeves. not to say they daily drive with that much hp, but it's been done numerous times. with the cost to properly install a blockguard, you might as well keep saving for sleeves. a blockguard is like a bandaid.
