time for a tune up? backfires & smokes...
car is a 93 civic hatch, W/ a Gsr swap. mod are i/e w/ chipped p30 ecu (chip was ment for a p28, but it runs fine.... sorda)
anyway, lately the car has been backfiring ALOT on decel, and the other day we took the car to the drag strip, and i noticed when it was going down the track (someone else was driving it) that it started to smoke a little. it wasn't much, but it was enough to notice it. smoke was greyish- black, so im not sure if my distributor is going out, or i need new spark plugs....
had the car for about a year, and never changed distributor, spark plugs, air cleaner, etc... so im thinking its time. Any opinions?
TIA

aside from your car running "sort-of" fine...pull your plugs and look at what condition they are in, if you've never changed them it's never a bad idea to throw some fresh plugs, wires, cap and rotor on.
