i have a 92 accord and i recently changed the fuel pump but the thing is that when i bought it it was sitting for bout a year and did the whole engine repair thing. the fuel tank had sugar in it so i cleaned it and the fuel lines too. so i changed the whole fuel system basically but everytime i'm running about a quarter of a tank and stop hard or just stop, my engine stalls. after i put some gas it's ok. i was wondering did i miss anything on the tank or something.
cause i also have a civic and i can run that sucker down to almost nothing and it doesn't stall. could i be missing something in the tank. also everytime i open my gas tank there is alot of air coming out of the tank. any ideas would be appreciated.

 

what about the idle?
does it jump?

 

no the idle does not jump idle is good the only problem is when i have low fuel at my tank. im thinking that it's because the fuel gets away from the pump but should it really do that???

 

automatic? if so, do you know if your torque converter is disengaging?

 

no i have a 5 speed but i don't know it's not the idle or the engine it works fine but everytime i get close to a quarter of gas in my tank it starts to stall everytime i brake hard. and it gets worse the less gas i have in my tank.

it does not do that when i have more than a half tank but still i'm still wondering what that is, and besides i don't usually fill my tank till it's almost to empty.

 

Have you checked the new tank to see if the feeder tube was too short? That could be the reason...

 

well actually there wasn't any feeder tube only the pump in the tank and it didn't have the little sock filter also. new pump came with it and i installed it like that. maybe that's what it is. i'll have to check it some time soon. thanks.

 

Is there a way to sort of bleed your fuel system? Maybe there is air in the lines... I don't know, just a thought.
