Default Removing Pistons...

I recently took my block apart because it was hydrolocked by the previous owner. But i have 3 questions/problems.

1) Im having trouble getting the crank, pistons, and rods out. Anyone got any tips?

2) My crank has brown marks for the bearings is that bad (arent standard supposed to be green)

and 3) I found some white stuff on my crank...what could it be. (looks like paint?) Thanks

Take the rod bolt nuts off. Take the rods out.

Take the main caps off.

Don't know about the bearings or white stuff.

You have to tap them.

A repair manual would really help you out with this.

You might need a ridge reamer.

no lol let me see if i can explain this better...i have the block upside down and im trying to remove the crank, rods and pistons. All bolts are removed. Since its hydro-locked the pistons don't want to fall out.

They shouldn't fall out easily anyways. You need to push them or tap them.

It sounds like your trying to take the pistons out of the bottom (hope not lol) The pistons have to come out from the top of the motor. If they are giving you a hard time coming out take a wooden stick (like a broken broom stick) and put it on the bottom of the piston, LIGHTLY tap the other end of the stick with a rubber mallet. they will come out just be carefull!

Lube it up really well before you try ramming it through

side note, you can lightly tap on the rod bolts with an extention and a rubber mallot to pop the rod from the crank.

But like others said these pistons and rods need to come out of the top of the motor ie: take the head off and push them up and out of the motor.

I dont see how taking them out of the bottom is that big of a deal, unless the mains come into the way.

With the motor upside down and all the main caps and oil pump removed, can you get the crankshaft out?

Its easy, I just took an a6 block apart lastnight. Just push those babies right out of there. Be careful with the parts your going to re-use and just hammer the rest of the stuff out of there. Hope you had better luck getting the crank pully bolt off than I did, holy crap was that thing on there.

ok thanks for all the tips guys...i finally got them out.... Believe it or not but the walls are fine...just rusty. No stratches or anything. I found out that the white stuff on the crank was from a piston hitting it... 3 out of 4 or the rods are bent.

1)Anyone know where to find new OEM ls rods for cheap?

2)Would JDM ITR pistons be a good choice for daily driving?

3)Should i bore it out (81.25) even tho the walls are fine?

4) what would the max be that i could bore it out before having to get new sleeves? (would i be able to make it a 2.0 liter?)

if you wanted to make it a 2L you would need to sleeve the block to 84mm. the highest bore that would be safe for daily driving is 82mm. anything past that and you ahve to sleeve

I have used OEM LS and brand new RS Machine ITR pistons 82mm. I for got what block you have but an LS w/ 82mm bore is pretty close to a 1.9, its like 1880-1885 cc or so.
