you buy a rebuilt axle from an auto parts store. Axles with good shafts can have the CV joints rebuilt with new components.
Not sure if they would give you anything for core charge on your broken one, though, unless it broke inside the joint and the shaft is still good.
I would suggest rebuilt axles from Advance Auto Parts. The ones from AutoZone and NAPA are notorious for being utter crap.

a prelude axle won't fit because the end that goes into the hub is bigger and won't fit in a teg. If ur looking for new axles, I would suggest new ones, not rebuilt, every thread I've read on here about rebuilt axles people seam to say that it's a big gamble because most of the time they eather come with bad cv joints, or go bad very quickly. I even have rebuilt axles because, hey why not it's cheeper, and yup one of the cv joints is bad and cause me vibrations, so.. my oppinion is to spend a bit more money and do it right the first time.

You say this all the time yet some friends that I race with and myself have had great sucess using them at the track on slicks. I have well over 60 passes on the current pair launching at 7K rpms.
BTW- Prelude axles are longer and won't fit. Not to mention the outer hubs are different.....

Well let's see... I bought one pair from AutoZone and they were the wrong length. I returned them and bought another pair from NAPA (same brand of axle) and it had bad inner joints. I exchanged them 2 more times because every set was either the wrong length or had bad inner joint, and then finally got a set that seemed okay. Out of that set, the driver side axle lasted all of 2 years before ripping the outer CV boot.
So yes, I'm going to say that the CCT brand of rebuilt axle is crap, for the most part. I will still keep using it, though, since I have the lifetime warranty and will continue getting them free as long as they keep taking a dump on me.
My brother got rebuilt axles from Advance Auto for his del Sol (not sure of their brand), and they appeared to be much higher quality than the CCT ones, and even came w/ OEM-style rubber balancers in the middle of the shaft, which the CCT ones never have on them.

NAPA axles are different than AutoZone last time I checked. Like I said no issues and we beat the **** out of them. Only failures I have had is when I snap the shafts in two.
Maybe some people do burnout circles or don't preload to make them fail
