Default Cleaning Some GSR Blades?

I just got a new set of GSR blades yesterday...

The set is so clean. no scratches or curb marks. nothing! the only thing that bugs me abotu them is this stuff!

anyone ever run into this stiff? it looks almost like silver paint thats pealing off. but i cant scratch it off. it looks like it might come off with a pressure washer.

You think i could take them to a Rim shop and they could referbish them? like make them look brand new? expensive? worth it?

The clear is peeling. The only real solution is stripping and re-clearing.

Or you could do what I did. Strip off the clear, have the faces machined like the Si wheels, and then re-clear.

I thought they were Alloy? It's not going to rust!!!

Just sand them down and polish them.

That's what I thought, but unfortunately, the clear coat is, in part, what makes the overall polished finish of the wheel. Once you strip off the clear, you're going to inadvertently dull the polished surface. You'll have to repolish the faces and then, you'll run into the problem that you cannot spray clear coat paint on a polished surface, since truly polished metal is essentially non-porous. You could, however, have the clear powder coated.

Anyone care to chime in and elaborate?

i see what your saying because if i polish them. the spray on clear wont have anything to stick to basically? i guess imma just have to take some sand paper to the parts that are pealing and not touch the "blades"

I had the same problem. That's the clear and the paint in between the spokes pealing. I just used some paint remover and wet sanded where the paint was and cleared. It looked amazing but each rim took about 8hrs of work.

DAMN, Like the shoe much!!!

You have to start kinda low on the sanding and it is alot of work!!!

There is a thread on there somewhere if I can find it I'll get it to you so you can see how it is done.
