This will most likely be the dumbiest question on HT. But i have to know. i have a b16 in a crx. And when i check the oil it always changes. if i i check cold it says i have hardly any oil. But if i run it hard it says the same thing. But once in a while when i run it nice and let it cool for 10 min. it shows the oil is fine. what is the right way to check it? sorry for such a dumb question

 

Pull dipstick out, wipe off with towel (or something similar) reinsert dipstick take it back out and look at how much oil you have.

 

i did know that but when should i check right after vtec but then the oil would be in the head, or when its cold, or just run it nice and then check it?

 

I check it once I shut the car off, or once I come off track with the motor turned off. VTEC has nothing to do with checking your oil and you should always have a little oil in the head otherwise you get dry starts and will kill the motor.
