Default So...my MAGNAFLOW isn't loud enough.

That's right. I got a magnaflow exhaust for my 06 Civic non-SI SEDAN and it sounds sweeeet. But i need to get it to be louder! So...

I've heard of "headers" from various people, videos, and websites but don't exactly know what they're for and what they do. I don't even know if the "headers" such as "DC Sports Race Header", came with my magnaflow exhaust.

My magnaflow exhaust came with the wholeeee damnnnn piping. Long as heck. Big. Huge. Went from front of my car to the back.

Is that the header? Or is that something else. And if I am to get a header, what will it to to my exhaust/sound?

OR...
IF anyone knows how to make my magnaflow exhaust (16687) louder, please post!

Thanks!

-Charles

does the exhaust piping start after the cat? or the downpipe?

our "header" is build into our engine and i dont think we can alter it. however, if you really want it louder (i dont know why), i would get the Weapon R "header" (replaces the cat, not legal), and megan racing downpipe.

and make sure you dont have a silencer on.

After reading your response, I looked up on google and youtube: megan downpipe and weapon r headers. I'm still confused -_- lol.

I'll research up on what they are, where they're placed, how they work, and what they do.

Thanks,

-Charles

If all you want is sound and don't care about performance you could always just disconnect your muffler. Unbolt the muffler and move it so that the holes on one side are shifted up to the other and rebolt so your muffler isn't flopping around.

An extractor bolts to the head and routes the exhaust gasses from the engine block to the rest of the exhaust system, then out the back of your car.

Header ( which your car does have optionally to replace[/b]

to

Catalytic Convertor (or high flow cat)

to

Midpipe

to

Axleback/Exhaust Canister

& Optional Silencer

Now due to the fact that you have a non si and I doubt you'll take the advice posted up here ANYWAY...since you just want it " MAD LOUD SON " ...

I would take your exhaust to a muffler shop and have them remove the resonator on your midpiping.

Well I don't think you could have explained it any better for him.

I'm afraid I don't understand why the hell you would want to try and make your car louder than it already is with the Magnaflow.

It sounds like you have a lot to learn about the different parts of a car, I say do some more research before you continue to mod your car. And i would reccomend actually doing some reading on the forums or in books/magazines rather than just hopping on youtube and searching for videos.

Same here...

If you want annoying noise just goto a muffler shop and have them replace the resonators with straight pipe.

Just wondering, would replacing your resonator with a suitable pipe make it that loud really annoying raspy sound? Or will it just make it louder/deeper? Is this legal in California?

You know, it sounds like you are not real knowledgable about your engine so I am going to offer a piece of advise. Feel free to ignor it.

First, study up on your car, engine and drivetrain.

When you start screwing with the Cat, you not only take a chance in making your car unsmoggable (and you do live in CA), you also risk screwing up the fuel tuning. You take the risk of throwing of CEL (Check Engine Light). I know there are very few high flow cat's (if any) that are legal in CA.

Second, wanting it louder will draw more attention. If you get pulled over and the police comment on your record that you are driving a modified vehicle, you are going to get a letter from the DMV insisting you smog it before they renew your registration.

I suggest you think a bit more about what you want and research the consequences.

Just offerring a bit of friendly advise.
