Leightweight Small Odyssey Battery - Useable in S2K's?
I'm in the middle of a turbo project on my buddy's AP1 and we are down to the last few details, one of them being the battery. The manifold we are using, won't accomodate the stock size battery and I would prefer not to relocate it if at all possible. So I'm curious if anybody out there is running a smaller "motorcycle" battery to save weight? I have had 2 different Odyssey (PC680 and PC625)batteries in my CRX projects but I realize that the S2K is a different story. Obviously these smaller batteries aren't capable of the normal output of the stock battery. With the S2K having electronic power steering, I'm concerned about how much of an amperage load I should expect. He also has a mild stereo with an amp and sub, nothing crazy but an amperage draw nonetheless. Can't forget about the convertible top either, that motor must draw some amps! This isn't going to be a daily driver by any means, at the most it will be a weekend cruiser, but I obviously want it to be reliable. Is the small battery an option for me or am I stuck with having to relocate it? Any input about this or similar experiences would be great. Thanks.

A PC-680 should do just fine as long as you keep it hooked up to a charger when the car is not in use for more than a few days. I bought the 12 Amp Odyssey Ultimizer because the Odyssey batteries rewuire a different charging profile than most other batteries. A lot of people still swear by the Battery Tender to maintain a charge but I needed something that could bring it back from the dead too. The Ultimizer does both.

Well, I'm curious as far as starting the car and while it's running whether or not it can handle the load it will see.

the pc680 will be fine for daily driving and everyday use. leaving the car unstarted for more than several days will require a battery tender to keep it charged, especially on an older pc680. You can find battery tenders for $30 at motorcycle shops, you don't need anything hardcare, the simple one does the job

I belive the one i have in my S2K is a PC545MJ. Ill loo tonight. its the same one i used in my Integra. Ive used it here in the AZ heat all summer and never had any issues. Nice upgrade but one thing is youll have to cut the stock brackets to hold it down.

My buddy had a PC545 in his 01 Civic turbo project and it worked just fine. Have you noticed any issues with lights dimming when you use the convertible top? Does it seem to strain it much? Thanks for the input, I was hoping that an S2K owner was running a small battery so I could get their opinion.
