Default Climate control looking a little dim?

So...my climate control is dimmer than the rest of my car.

Crappy picture for reference:

I thought maybe the bulbs inside the climate control were going, but the whole thing is dim, I can't imagine all the bulbs are going bad at once. Anyone have an idea why this is? I know the radio is way brighter than an ITR radio is, but even then, when I'm in my friend's Hype R, his radio and climate control are the same brightness, and a lot brighter than my climate control.

The defroster button lights up nicely, but the rest looks horrible.

Your bulbs are burnt out. I believe there are 3 that need to be replaced. The reason why they look dim is the bulbs from the temp. control are slightly illuminating the rest of the unit.

Oh sorry, didn't see your post. Pull out the Hazard and rear defroster buttons. Just pull on them and they should come one. If just the face pops off you need to pull the rest of the button off. Unplug them and behind them you should see two screws. Unscrew them and on the passenger side of the dash, behind it you should find the mechincal part of the AC that moves for the temp selection. If you can't see it or dunno what it looks like, while looking down there move the temp selection back and forth. Pull the cable off the peg its on, and pop it out of the holder you'll see. You should be able to pull the Climate Control out somewhat. Now you just need to unplug the 3 or 4 connectors in the back, and its out.

not to thread jack but I have the same problem except the defroster and the last 3 buttons on the right dont light up or are very very dim, also the lights dont turn on sometime. I have switched out 3 climate control and they all seem to have the same problem. Is there anything else i can check or do to fix it?

Can't really jack a thread when its already dead. but since you've replaced the climate control units it is safe to assume that you have a wireing problem.

Since you say none of your lights work sometimes then there is a loose connection (Assuming no short since fuses would blow, you've checked the fuses correct?).

First place to check would be the dimmer switch since all dimmed lights goes through this. Make sure you have good voltages to this and the voltage going out is correct.

Question: What the hell would cause one of my climate control button to turn white, instead of Amber like it should be., it's just 1 button.

There is a film behind the buttons. I remember in my GSR I removed the blue film or whatever material it is with rubbing alcohol. This turn the button to clear/white. Then I put in a red film which made the hvac look like the R's.

Not sure how the film could just come off though.. unless you have a fake one currently.

such a ricer I am.

If that was towards me, its very dim. I reaplaced all the bulbs awhile back when I made this thread and nothing changed. I was gonna bump it back up, but I didn't. I'm gonna try to trade my black parts out for CF parts anyways, so if I do that I don't really care if they light up right or not.
