D16a6 build last few Q's
Well guys I am a newb to this particular forum and I would just like to say its good to be here and good to back doing what I like to do, spending money on my Honda. For all you guys who have no idea what the hell this post is about, let me fill you in. On Sunday I picked up an almost complete d16a6 from a friend who just let me have the thing, I think......Anyway the head is shot but the block and rotating assembly are in good enough shape for a rebuild. After I got the motor home I began to dissasemble it to a size that was more managable to tote around in my trunk and then I made some headway finding out what I needed to get this thing running again. So......here is what im thinkin...
The block (a6) needs to be hot tanked and then rehoned, but will also probably need to be bored .20 to facilitate the honing. I beleive .20 is what they usualy do in these cases. I will re-use the rods and crank but the rods will get new bearings and the new pistons will be installed with new pins and rings. It will all be assembled and machined at a local machine shop for about $255, which isnt to bad.
The head is a fully rebuilt z6 with new valves, springs, ect.
The intake and throttle body are yet to be determined but wont vary too much from stock (a6).
Now, my Q's
1.What do you guys think about this build?
2.What type of power and torque numbers might I hit?
3.Any other things I should think about?
(i know these are noob questions but whatever, this is my first engine build)
Thanks,
Ryan
