b16 reliability
Does anyone use the b16 jdm engine swap for like a daily driver and actually put miles on it or does everyone just race around the track with it because i dont want myne to go out after 20k miles
i use mine as a daily driver, and i like to know i have a bit of power when i want it (i get on it once a week or sometimes twice) i've put 25,000 miles on mine and it's still fine. So you should be good.
i have a jdm b16a sir II swap into my eg civic hatch as my daily drive..pretty reliable and good gas mileage too.. 40 miles round trip from work to home daily
only mods on engine are aftermarket header and air intake.

its a game. a shitty one at that. you think forza 2 or gran turismo 5 would do it but who knows. b16 is a great motor.

Actually in Forza 1 with the del sol and crx if you dont change the motor you can hear the vtec kick in around 5-5500 rpm. I was pumped when I found out. B16 is a great daily driver motor. I have one and its great, quicker than most cars out there but yet still gets some good mpg. I actually tied a stock 3500 cummins the other day in my car (del sol ....stock
) i was very suprised.

As long as it doesn't have problems already when you buy it then definitely. Mine I've put over 50k on in less than 2years. That includes some 1/4 mile track time and a few autox too. Take care of it and don't constantly beat it and it'll surely be reliable and fun to drive.
I've been driving my OBD-0 B16a made in 1989 for at least 5 years. Now it's built and making better numbers; with of course, less reliability. It really matters on the parts you choose at that point, if you decide to build a B16a or any motor. The B16 makes a little less power than its higher displacement brothers, but offers a shorter stroke. My point it, as far as bearing wear goes, a "grandma" driven B16 will have excelent rotating internals 60,000 miles in.
