Default throttle sticking, only in the mornings.

my 96 civic has a problem with the throttle sticking on cool mornings. The rpms 500 to 600 rpms and wont throttle down untill i drive the crap out of it.I go to push in the clutch and the rpms dont go down, but stay up around 600 rpms. After driving it about 20 minutes,it drives great,no high rpm problem.Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Oh this happened to me too. Spent lots of time working out. My throttle body was cleaned but in the end it was the throttle cable that needed repacing. There is a bend in the throttle cable which can rub and wear. You can get some corrosion in there when its been sitting and gets chilly it sticks so my Honda Mechanic told me anyways. Once you get the car going for a while it frees up. I would check the cable out. Works lovely now

My car has similar problem. 1993 Civic VX. Idle sticks at any RPM after shifting and then slowly comes down. I haven't tried replacing the cable yet. Wanted to ask if that helped. Mechanic is working on it as I write this. Can't figure it out tho. Says there are no vacuum leaks. Haven't replaced the throttle body. I guess the only way to fix this is a bunch of trial and error.
