aluminum to steel what yall think?
yeah well this is one thing i have never done. mixing metals. well i ran into a situation yesterday with my wheel studs... the lug nut is stuck on one of them and the stud is spinning... I tried clamping it and all. The last resort I'm thinking of is to tig weld it but wasn't sure because like i said i have never mixed metals before. what do you all think. and what filler wire shall i use?.... the studs are from H&R... are they aluminum? not quite sure.. any help would greatly appreciated. welding shops are closed on weekends near me. WTF.
I know aluminum is out of the subject now, but
adhesive bonding is another application that can join dissimilar metals
(falls under "welding" in most books;its just not arc welding).

thanks guys... guess i gotta get in there to prep the area first.. thanks guys. yeah the studs got a platting on them. or painted. dunno. it will most deff be a BITCH.
i have had this problem before i owned a shop , i had to buy a dremel and a bit used for cutting Stainless, it took for ever but i cut the nut on one side and hammered it off. now a days i just use a torch, or air hammer with a sharp bit to splitt the nut.
