JDM H22A from HMO motors. A issue/question
How in the world do you get the crank pulley off?
I made this tool with a 2 inch nut on a 2 foot peice of hacked up pipe from a floor jack and welded this metal nut into the end of it so i can put it in the H22a's crank shaft the 50mm key way for the crank pully, anyway i can put a 19mm socket inside it while i hold the crank, I keep standing on it and pulling it to no avail. the crank pully is also getting semi assed up from the bolt trying to get it off so I am ordering a aftermarket lighter pully.
How does one go about getting this off? its a pain in the butt.

One the two that I've worked on, we put the engine on a stand, use a Honda pulley holder (like your tool), and a 3.5 ft. long Snap On 3/4 drive breaker bar. If you brace the crank pulley holder on the floor, and have someone steady the engine stand (make sure you get a good sturdy stand), you can get the crank pulley bolt off without too much trouble. The key is to have a really long breaker bar and a sturdy stand.
I just did mine, had to use the otc tool to hold the crank, wedged it into the pallet that it shipped on, still strapped down, and with an 18" breaker bar and a jack handle, loosened it up

No. I use the honda pulley holder tool and a 4ft cheater bar. It's a tight bastard, just keep at it.

I concur.
but yeah, a 50mm crank pulley holder and breaker bars should be more then enough. it comes off like a regular bolt. I know there's some people who get confused cause the motor turns counterclockwise so they think they need to get the bolt off going clockwise. not true, the bolt comes off like normal(lefty loosey, righty tighty
)
if you have an impact wrench, it'd be
A LOT easier. sometimes I have to keep my TI2135 on the bolt for almost a minute to get it off.
just keep at it.

well thanks for the replies.
-- I Orderd another crank pulley off fleabay since my crank pulley I've been trying to get off has sorta started to get assed up looking.. Do they even offer a crank pulley without the power steering part of it attached?
We happen to have a metal lathe where my car is currently sitting "92 CX hatch" and since im getting a billet aluminum pulley i was just going to toss it on the lathe to turn off that part.. sounds simple enough...
Although the interesting part goes where as the notches/holes/50mm keyway is on the power steering part of the crank pulley which leads me to believe if i machine off the power steering wheel how does one attempt to get that wheel back off the crank if there isn't anything for the person to hold onto while they try and take the crank pulley bolt out?? "Like that 50mm keyway??"
I notice there is an inspection port where the flywheel is and one could attempt to jam something like a large flathead screwdriver in there.. but im not feelin that option any time soon.. i know that that thing is a peice of cast steel but... all the couple years ive been toying around with honda stuff theres a right way to do things and its usually thought out before hand..
I noticed if you opt for the AEM under drive kit i noticed that there crank pulley has the holes twords the rear of the pulley closest to the block.
any thoughts concerns?
kinda not on the generalized topic but i do notice that when i try and turn over the engine with my ghetto fab'ed 50mm wrench I notice it is very easy to do so and am sort of scared since this should be a 41k h22a jdm engine that is guaranteed to start..
That being said... I notice the D15B8 that I pulled out of my car is actually harder to turn over?
When i turn over the engine i do feel compression strokes and puffs of air coming out of each exhaust port so thats a good sign..
any thoughts?

AEM doesn't make a crank pulley for the H22. AFAIK, they don't make crank pulleys at all.

I believe you are right sir.
Now i hope this crank pulley i bought wont cause the engine to fall apart :\
I suppose i could simply machine off the stock pulley and re use it.
