Hit up google and you'll find out how to set the gun and what pressure you should use. Check out the paint shops paint chip books, find a black you want and tell them the code. Make sure the body work is perfect, black is a color that will show all the imperfections...!

in the back of the gun there should be 2 lil ***** to adjust it. on is for how wide it sprays the other is for how much comes out i believe. test it on a paper and check to see how wide it is.

Depending on what type of gun you have you should have a few basic controls…
The fan control, used to adjust the size of the fan from tall to short, then you have control for the amount of paint and needle adjustment on the trigger
The main thing that I have learned that effects the proper spray pattern is the fan control and the correct air pressure… Practice on a sheet of masking paper before you even start spraying
What kinda compressor are you using? Some of those cheap $100 guns suk *****

actually black is one of the easier colors to spray, you can easily hide any scratches and any dirt nibs wont show (like they would on white) and it covers the fastest

yeah but, if the body work isn't 100% straight...then you'll see it like none other. On white its harder to notice.

You don't have to worry about the dustnibs..thats what the wet sand and buff is for.

How's it i'm interested in this subject, you people say to test it on paper or what not, what type of consistency should i be looking for when I'm testing it? How do I know when it is too much pressure or too little...what's my ideal? I know each brand specifys how much pressure to use but I'm curious what to look for. Any help is appretiated. Thanks.

i guess u pretty much have to look on the paper or wat ever u test on. u dont want to adjust it to where its sprayin all over the place and jus dusting it. as long as its a good wet spray, then u should be fine. once u start sprayin, u wanna make sure u over lap it like 50%. example: if u spray the first line of ur hood, the next line should over lap it 50%. at least thats wat i do.

what you look for is a verticle even line pattern... test it on the paper until you get a tall even line... if its not adjusted properly the gun will shoot an "8" pattern or too much paint on the top and bottom and less in the middle.. or vise versa. you want it all even so it lays down with a nice even fan of paint. the wider the fan spray the better
good luck!

Here's how to adjust your settings

To test the gun:make sure the Fluid needle is all the way screwed in.(screw material valve all the way in)counter clockwise.Come back out 3 1/2 full turns back out.Applies for (base or clear). Now open your fan spray all the way up go 1 1/4 turning in,remember to adjust your air pressure cordingly.(this is how to test or set a gun)

Wtf, most fan control ***** only rotate just around 360 deg. That makes no sense to rotate back 1 1/4. There is really no one way to set up a gun. It relates mostly to the style or technique used by the painter.

OP, it depends on what type of comp your using. Also if how fast you spray, overlap, distance from cap to surface, ect. There is a ton of info on the net about this.
