Default 98 EX Auto, GOT FUEL, GOT POWER, no starting is driving me nuts

Car: 98 EX Automatic, BONE STOCK. has a remote start with a hoodpin depresser thing and a switch on the dash to turn on/off.

Car was running and in full use last week. I go to check it out, its very nice and nicely priced, but has trouble turning over at first, but eventually catchs, idles above 2k till warmed up, idle normal, no codes, car is fine, I drive it. I then perform comp test, perfect 190 in each. Go to start it again, hood open, nothing.

Car turns over quickly (def has juice in the battery)
Good compression
Is getting fuel (pump is priming, fuel on plugs when trying to turn over)

Is not getting spark...
Took a plug out, put it into a wire, held it near/agasint a ground, no spark, I then took a different wire, left it attached to its spark plug, and took it slightly out of the dizzy cap to look/listen for spark, nothing.

All fuses, including ECU are good. No CELs

I tried every combo of disengaing the remote start, engaging, hood open, hood closed, etc. Nothing

Ruled to: Distributor itself, Broken Rotor, Dead ECU (but then fuel wouldnt get sent, so thats not it)

Car had all its work done at honda, plugs look decent, NGK blue wires look new, cap looks newish.

HELP

How does it look inside the distributor? Also, did you check to see if it had locked up on you?

WHat locked up? Motor is spining freely with 190psi in all four.

Didnt look inside dizzy. Assuming I dont see a dead/broken rotor, is there a way to test the distributor to see if maybe the coil died or something?

My integra did that a long time ago.. It was the ignitor in the dist under the car.. I just replaced the brown ignitor, and bought a new rotor and cap while i was at it and it started right up..

Well, this is for a car I want to buy, so I think they will be fixing it. Igniters are godawful ($130 from the dealer). Hope they know someone. What years would work by the way, if I had say an obd1 DX distributor?

Will any D-series obd2 distributor work, or are the single vtec dizzys different?

replace the ignitor, rotor, and cap. that should solve the problem.

The sum of those parts exceeds the the aftermarket replacement cost of the total distributor in some places, or at the least, is very close to it.

So once again, will all OBd2 D-series distrubutors work on the 98 ex?

yes it will but it will have to be a obd2a d-series dizzy. Meaning only 96-98 civic ex dizzys will bolt up. one thing i learned is buy a new/used oem dizzy, the aftermarket dizzys are ****.

Mine (92 D15B7) did same thing a week after I changed cap & rotor.
But my cap & rotor werent original Honda, though, I got them from Autozone.
I didnt notice that the rotor was defective (a little crooked), so it lasted only 1 week. It was rubbing on the dust cap, eventually broke the dust cap and shorted out the entire distributor. So I had to change distributor, dust cap (its a separate part), cap and rotor. This time I got Honda original from dealirship, though.
