Default 95 Prelude accident!!! Need your advice.

Hello everyone,

This link will take you to the images of my car wreck. http://s234.photobucket.com/al...aBlue/

I got into a car accident last Friday when the rain was poring. I was driving cautiously due to the weather and somehow the car still managed to hydroplane on the frwy.

It felt like someone lifted the car up and spun it, as I floated and spun into the center divider. From the link you can see the result. Only a bruised knee, and no one else was involved luckily. Random unfortunate accident.

As a recent college student, I only had liability auto insurance, so I get zero from the insurance company.

So, my question is, do you have any idea on what I can do with the car? I've never been in an accident besides this one, so I don't know what to do.

The engine still works. Looks like just major body damage, maybe frame too. The the interior, wheels, rims, side doors, window, and engine look good. I just don't know who will want to buy it. I called IAA and they didn't want it. Is calling around for junk yards the only option? Whats the value for the sell that I can get? even worse.... repair... prob 4K to fix, so I'm better off trying to sell to someone who needs parts.

Let me know if you have any ideas or have experience with this.

Thanks,
Toshibablue

You could try posting it on craigslist altogether or parting it out.
The latter would probably yield more money.

If you don't want to fix it, you'll get the most by parting it out.
Which could take some time, so it just depends on what you want to do.

Doesn't matter on the H23, that's not the only thing he'll be selling.. And he'll still be able to make some money from the H23, still people that want them..

Sorry about the car.. And good luck with whatever you plan to do with it.

That looks pretty bad with the damage reaching to the rear quarters and the trunk....Your best bet is to part it out. Sorry

....If you do decided to part it out, let me know I need a few little things.

H23 is a fantastic engine. Lots of people around here want them, and alot of them beat H22's.

Then they are either FI'ed, or N20'ing and if neither of those are true then they just can't drive. Plain and simple.

If I were you, I would part out as much of the interior as you can, then have a junk yard haul off the rest/sell it to someone to pick up the rest.

The interior and the wheels have the most value. Speedometerm dash harness, center console, seats, door panels, etc are all in demand.

Good luck!

If you want to part it out, I'll buy the power antenna assembly from you if it's in working condition.

Yea if theres no frame damage, It looks like you need a Hood, Bumper, radiator support, fenders, headlights, turnsignal lights, new bumper support, both airbags, SRS comp and fix that rear quater. Thats alot of work and money. Plus if you want to keep it the same color. I had a front end accident and had to change the radiator support which was a pain since you need to weld that off and the new one on. Plus i lucked out finding a part lude with a perfect frontend in my color. I'd part it out.

Thanks for your help and replies everyone.

update: I don't know if I failed to mention that the enginee runs and that I can drive the car. I haven't driven it any where far, but have moved it from one parking spot on the street to another spot to avoid ticketing. And the alarm works too, pretty much all electronics.

What would be a fair asking price for me to ask the junk yards to pay for?
I have no experience in this. Thanks for all the help everyone has posted.

I do personally thank everyone who has replied for your advice.

Plan A) is to just sell the whole car, since I'm no good a parting the car, or have any experience doing so.
Plan B) will be to part the car if I can't get a good price on the whole car.
