Default h22a oil port question?

On the H22a right above the thermostat housing on the cylinder head there are 2 allen head screws, One is on the rear of the engine (firewall) and one is on the right (passenger side) My question is the smaller on with 1/8NPT threads, would this be sufficent for an electrical VDO oil pressure sending unit. I have searched and see nothing. Thanks.

Yes, that's where I have my Defi oil pressure gauge plumbed. It's not 1/8" NPT. It's 1/8" BSPT, which is slightly different.

that would only be monitoring oil pressure in the head tho. Not exactly the most sufficent placement, imo.

Since oil pressure is determined by the main bearing clearence, I am willing to bet placement would more than sufficient, I just wanted peice of mind that someone else has put their sending unit there. After all I would imagine that's where a Honda Tech would test for oil pressure rather than pulling the pressure switch off the back of the engine. Thanks for the reply 117 and the info about the thread pitch!!

That port is directly fed from the outlet of the oil filter. If you're not reading pressure at that port, you don't have pressure in the bottom end either.

Oil pressure is determined by more than the main bearing clearance.

Yes, but the main factor to oil pressure is your main bearing clearences. Oil filter, rod bearings, oil squirters, ect. all play a role.

117 I am not trying to argue with you. I have been building engines for close to a year for hooters cup, arca, and some busch stuff. I know where oil pressure comes from. Aside this, thanks for the good info on the port.
