Alright, kind of a long story. I recently sold my '93 2.3l lude on ebay. Prior to listing the car for sale, I had an MSD Digital SCI and MSD blaster2 coil installed. I pulled the SCI to sell seperately & wired the MSD coil to work w/ the OEM ignition system. The car seemed to run great, so I sold it on ebay. Well, the buyer came to pick it up, got about 20 minutes away, and the car just died while driving on the highway, shortly after throwing a CEL. I had the car towed back to my house & ordered a new OEM coil, as I had some friends say they had problems w/ MSD coils when used w/ the stock ignition. Got the stock coil on, and nothing. The car just sits there & cranks but never actually fires. I would be working on the car myself, but I am in another state going to school, so i'm having my mechanic back home work on it. He seems to think it's the igniter in the distributer. It seems that there is current going to the coil, it's just not firing. Also, he said that as you try to start the car, while it sits there cranking away, the tach does not move at all & according to him it should at least do something, which also leads him to beleive it might be the distributer. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?? Any help at all is greatly appreciated!!

Yeah, i set the timing on the distributor myself. Like i said, the car was running perfectly fine then died. Anyone dealt w this before? Is it possible that the MSD components wore other parts out?

Admittedly, I didn't install the OEM coil. As I said, i'm out of state & have been having my mechanic do the repairs. But honestly, it's a plug. I didn't chop the plug when I installed the MSD coil, I just plugged new wires in w/ blade connectors into the existing plug end, so re-installing the OEM plug would've just been a matter of pulling the wires out & it would plug & play from there...pretty hard to screw up.
has he pulled the cap, checked the rotor, or pulled the CEL? I mean theres only a couple sensors in the dizzy that could have been tripped if they blew out, and obviously its pretty easy to check the cap, rotor, and make sure if the coil is getting spark to the dizzy.
