Default 3-phase 450v

if a shop had single phase 240v 30amps is it possible to use a VFD to convert it to 3-phase 450v? is it safe to use a VFD for a dyno? just curious what you guys do to convert single phase to 3 phase? well i read about some posts about it, but most were for milling machines...etc, but couldnt find a post for a dyno, cause most machineries have hp rating and i dont know an hp rating the dyno uses!
any advice would helpful

what do i need to convert a shops single phase 240VAC 50hz 30amp power to 3-phase 450v?
need it for:
1- 3-phase Dynomemeter
2- 3-phase 14,000 CFM FAN
3- an extra output for future use!

need what sort of components i need and brands if possible to reach my requirements here? doing 3-phase serive is very expensive here so i need a cheaper route!!!!

You need a step up transformer.

I have a rotary type phase converter running my mill but Iam not to sure what you would need for the Dyno. As you stated I have a 5HP unit but Iam not sure what you would need to run the dyno ? Iam sure that the Dyno must have some specs as far as what amount of current it pulls when being operated. You may need to convert it somehow to HP ? I know that my phase converter can provide about 20A of current but the machine only requires 9A according to the electric motor specs. So If you could figure out what type of current you need then you should be able to figure out what HP converter to go with.
Iam not really up on AC stuff so maybe someone else here could shed some light.
Good luck

there is no 450volt power in the usa its 440 or 480, if you have 240 single phase youll need to make 240 three phase then convert the 240 3phase to 480 3 phase. Whats your budget and Ill tell you your options. My first thought is move to a building with a 3 phase power and never look back. Try calling your power company for the cost of 3 phase and be sitting down

one of my friends just had it done $12,000 to get 3 phase from the pole to the breaker box.

depending on what size motors you have, you can always buy single phase motors and replace the 3 phase ones. I just did that on my brothers mill but it was only 5hp and my other friends air compressor which was 3hp.

You would be better off finding another dyno. And get a single phase fan.Phase converters only like steady load.

well am not living in the states (overseas), and from my experience here there is 450v where i live....budget? well am looking for the minimal payment that gets my dyno operate safely! can you give prices here, cause moving to a 3-phase building isnt an option for me since i always looked for shop that has 3-phase and noticed most shops here are single phase...NOT saying there isnt 3-phase here, but are rare since i noticed they are only found in big factories here

The company I used to work for is HQ'd in Switzerland. I installed industrial laser's here in the US and I believe there is a special transformer we buy in Europe to step up the voltage from single phase 240 50Hz to 440, 460, 480 or 500V 3 phase. I'll try to get you the correct info on the step up transformer you need.
