what's up people?? having a little trouble with my 90 accord. when i turn over the key nothing happens, just a click. tried jumping it but nothing happens, i was thinking the starter but before i go buy a new, is there anything else i should look for or check??? is there a another way to check the starter???

 

hows your battery??? I'd do a voltage check on that first

 

it's basically a newer battery took it out my nissan, i've been driving on it for a week now

 

Whats up man....good to see Duval Co. Representing on HT....lol....the clicking noise your hearing could be due to a loose Ground or Loose Positive Connection on the Battery Post....The battery may be new as hell but without a snug connection it will not kick the starter....I also had to use a nissan battery....my battery was from a 98' Altima (for emergency use tho....backup)....the posts were to small for my connectors....tried using a shim out of metal to snug up the positive connector to the post....and wha-la its started right up....try snugging up the connectors and see what you get....This could really be avoided if you cough off some cash for the proper battery tho....just a thought man....you'd be better off in the end. goodluck man

 

ya i see what your saying, well i'm going to try that today, but the battery worked fine for a week. hope this works, becuase i looked all over my grounds and positive wires, they all were in good shape

 

Also a u might wanna test the starter....run a jumper wire from the positive terminal on the battery to the power terminal on the starter....and see if it will kick....if it kicks then its possibly something in the engine fuse box causing issues could be a blown main fuse or grounded out wire somewhere....but these are the worse case scenarios....this test should ease your mind about your starter....either it kicks and its good or it doesnt and its bad....but still run a voltage test on the battery and see what you get first....trying to turn-over time after time will drain a battery (stating the obvious )....but sometimes its just the small things....and again goodluck.

 

ignition switch maybe!

 

Check those things previously suggested. If those are good, then check the main relay and the ignition switch.
