Default Z6 vs Y8

I was wondering which head would be better to put on an a6 block. Would it be the y8 or the z6 and why? Think you can help me out?

It was too much work to fix the ports on a Y8....it has one that is a mess. I would go with Z6.

I haven't seen a y8 in a while so i don't recall all the details but that was my experience from porting one a couple of years back.

Z6, OBD1 is better IMO then OBD2 and the head flows better, also if i remember then y8 had oil issues, but that might be the block.

The y8 had the bad oil pump, for that reason the z6 is a way better candidate for boost. I'd vote for the Z6.

y8 will yield slightly higher compression (from a smaller combustion chamber) and has a better shapped combustion chamber.
z6 has normal ports that flow better supposedly.

The differences offset each other really and just take whichever one you can find in good shape cheap.

You also can run a y8 head OBD1 using a 1.5L non-vtec dizzy so that isn't an issue.

I am real lazy 2nite [so I'm sure the non-reading noobs will flame my ***] but the old pub143. website bit the big one so therefore all the old links I could try to dig up on this one are dead. Plus, I have a membership to d-series.org & sohchonda.com but ...again I'm tired

I believe the is a cached page from the old site but read into it for some clues...still intriguing nonetheless

this was the original thread here on H-T that had the old link
My suggestion is to delve into the googlebot 4 more 411, btw google searches h-t
