help me out here with my civic si 99
Go to the grocery store, buy a magazine dealing with your car, learn what the different parts do, make a list of the things you want in order of priority. Simple!
this what i did to my EM1 when i first started modding it..
I did security first!! this is a must, then do Intake, header, and Exhaust. after that, get Adjustable coilovers, them put some clean 16" rims on it and then do whatever eles you want to do.... keep it clean..

save to have it lowered properly. do no buy springs and then put them on. the shocks will not last very long and the ride will be very bouncy. save for a good shock/spring combo or a good coilover. good luck and keep it clean.

+1 on alarm.. get one with battery backup.. and also install kill switches..
You will be glad later when you arent out all the money you put into it.. it would get stolen in a second without an alarm..
If you have the money, check into this one..

Depends on what options you want on it. Here's a great security thread:

And I definitely recommend getting security before you start modding. It's the only thing I've done so far to my EM1. Although, if you own a non-Electron Blue Pearl one, it's less likely to get stolen.

Id agree that security is #1. but i/h/e dont help make ur car more stable. Lower it 2nd. ^ this guy says shocks will wear out, i agree but it takes a while. I have lowering springs on a little over a yr, just bought new struts 2 weeks ago. oh, and it wasnt bouncy. it handled great. alarm first, stability 2nd. then usual intake/header/exhaust. but what u should do is go through honda-tech (ignore the idiots giving out crappy advice) and see what will work for your car and learn what you want from it.

If you want to go the typical route then its time for basic bolt on's

But IMO I would screw the basic bolt ons and save for a basic turbo kit like the Greddy or Edlebrock kit and spend about the same amount of money and have more power.
