I have a quick question for the gurus.. Okay I was offered a big *** turbonetics turbo (looked like a T3/super 60-1), tial 38mm, charge pipes and IC, for $500.. I was about to jump on it because the turbo is spotless (dude said it was brand new), it looked like it was straight out of the box.. anyway, I checked for shaft play, none at all.. in or out, none from side to side.. but when i started spinning it I heard a very faint scratching sound at one point during rotation. It sounded like one of the blades in the exhaust housing were barely running across a piece of the housing.. Does this sound like the bearings are shot or is this a common thing for new turbos?

From the looks of it, the kit looks well worth 500, but that clearance issue in the exhaust hosing has me worried. what do you guys think?

 

I would not be concerned i have had many turbos do that my brand new 60-1 did that and its fine.
