Default GM Manual Trans. Fluid?

A friend who used to have an Integra told me that a lot of Honda guys use GM Manual Transmission fluid w/Limited Friction to reduce grinding. I am experiencing some grinding in my Prelude that has 150k+ miles. I just bought the car and I don't have any service history for it but I want to change the tranny fluid... feedback on GM Man. Trans Fluid in a Honda?

When I have heard it brought up before usually the overwhelming consensus is that the new Honda MTF is as good if not better. Just make sure it is in fact the new stuff because there is a difference.

I have run 1/2 Honda and 1/2 Syncromesh, it helped a bit, haven't run the new Honda fluid, heard its awesome!! I am switching to Redline now though, since my car is almost exclusively on the track.

I've tried plenty of combos, and so far I'm really liking the 50/50 new Honda MTF and Syncromesh. BTW, you need to ask for part number 12377916, that's the friction modified one. They have several different types

You have a HONDA use HONDA MTF(Lime Green Bottle), NOT GM Synchromesh!

Im using 5-30 oil in my tranny for now.

The filler bolt is right under where the axel goes into the tranny. The drain bolt is directly under the axel at the bottom of the case.

Make sure you change the crush seals

GM Synchromest Friction Modified actually works quite well in an H22 trans. I used it for a couple of seasons in my track car. It was by far better than the Honda MTL at high temps, and it's compatible with clutch pack LSDs (I use a Kaaz LSD in my car). I've since switched to Royal Purple with good results for one track event. I'm going to try it again this season, but I have a full case of GM Synchromesh FM waiting just in case.

Have you actually tried the GM stuff?

Yes i have. i just believe that with the introduction of the new MTF from Honda, if your DD, then it suites the situation. Im not trying to say i know everything, but im a technician for Honda, and I've experienced the grinds and harsh shifting with customer cars. As soon as we switch over to the MTF the shifting changes dramatically. now im not saying this works for all, obviously you cant fix all severe problems. This just my two cents and experience.
