Eg losing water
hey, just noticed my engine is starting to lose water... not a whole bunch but i have to fill the reservoir every now and then. i dont see any leaks or anything. engine runs clean and fine, no smoke or anything. just smogged if it matters. i guess it does it more when im on the freeway. doubt its the head gasket cause when its running and im filling it, when the thermostat is open and everythings up, it seems calm and whirly from the flow. ho humm... it doesnt overheat or anything. what to do what to do?
Stock radiator? does it have a plastic top cover?
If it does check the top and bottom portions in good light.(particularly the top) It could be cracked and leaking small amounts of fluid. You should smell antifreeze, but nothing overbearing.. Nothing really noticeable but enough over a period of time to need to add every now and then. Make note when you stop or park for periods of time... do you see liquid on the ground? does it smell like antifreeze?
Don't confuse the liquids.. If you ran your AC there will be water on the ground when you stop your car.
