"dash renewal"???
this is a really weird question I suppose, but I figure I'd ask.
On my ITR, a previous owner had a VAFC, and a monster tach, etc. I replaced the a pillar plastic to get rid of the holes drilled, and I fixed the broken tabs for the center HVAC vent (wiring from the VAFC must have passed behind it)
Anyway, I have some "impressions" from the foot of the VAFC, and from the monster tach rubbing on the dash. The vinyl seems to be permanently dented. I tried using a hair dryer to warm up the spots, and massage them out, but no luck.
Do you guys have any ideas? I really don't want to swap out the dash, but I suppose if that is what it takes. I tried to rub it from the underside of the dash, but as you all know, it's a hard plastic shell. It seems to me like there should be a way to get the dash to loose the impressions. Anyone?

I say that, because my buddy's '99 Civic EX that he built (H22, ProSpeed header, 190whp, Si brakes, fun car) had a ricer previous owner. EXACT same situation as your car, except he had a "VTEC Tuning" emblem on the dash along with everything else (Monster tach, gauges everywhere, even though it was a stock car, etc). The indentions never came out, no matter what he did. He even tried pulling them out with adhesive, they didn't stay in the position, unfortunately.
dont swap it, can probably be fixed rather easily. check around for a local auto trim shop. there is a local shop here that repaired a dashboard that had DEEP scratches in it and it looks like new. Only took a few hours to do. I was amazed and am tempted to take my seats over there to rewrap them if they can match the materials.

Hey pvt_awol i feel your pain!!!! I got a "impression" on my dash too a size of a quater. Pervious owner riced out the car littlebit with the big tach and some ugly *** gauge cover.
Swapping out the dash is probably you're best bet if you want it to look perfect. I'd try to find a minty fresh black dash, remove the pieces from your ITR dash carefully (those tabs freaking suck), insert them into the new dash and then put the whole thing back in.

That is the most innovative idea yet, IMO.
I wonder if this would work on my passenger side door panel...
<<< hates that small indentation even though you can barely see it

well people who make rhd to lhd conversion they kinda cut the dash into 3 parts and ive seen they take out all the black vinyl cut it so they can transfer the glove compartment to the steering side and redo the whole thing it doesnt seems to be perfect but that will make ur dents look better (im not saying to cut ur thing but take the vinyl out and paste it again (do you call it upholstry? the fake leather thing in the dashboard)
probably in the us will be very expensive to do that
