NEED ANSWERS ON 99 em1 body work
Alright, so earlier this week I was involved in an accident. I was on my way home and some girl made an illegal left hand turn over two oncomming lanes of traffic, one of those lanes I was in. She bolted out in front and I had no reaction time, I was doing about 25 mph so I slammed on my brakes and veered to the right, which was an attempt to miss her. I clipped the side of her car at an angle with the front right side of my car.
I have a em1 by the way. The airbags did not deploy and the damage exists of the bumper, hood, passenger fender, head light, and some bending of sheet metal under neath the hood on the right side. There is no wheel damage and the crumpeling did not reach to the strut tower. What type of estimate cost are we looking at here? I am not a body expert and am not sure what it would cost to fix this or if it's even fixable.
She was 100% at fault and her insurance company is going to handle all the costs, however I am wating to see what the estimate is. Any one have any idea what were looking at here?

Probably $1500.00 to $2500.00, it all depends on how bad your apron assembly it bent up. I just wrote one the other day that sounds almost the same as yours, the total was like $1447.00, but there was only slight damage to the headlamp pocket and the apron assembly and there was no damage to the hood, and it is a black car so we aren't blending anything. Your's will be more expensive if the hood and fender need replaced cause you will have to blend a door and the opposite fender.

I talked to the guy that owns the body shop today... he said that he would need to replace the hood, fender, headlight, radiator support... and he then continued explaining that he will have to replace the entire side rail? The body that is underneath the hood and runs parallel with the fender, but is not part of the fender. The crumpeling itself did not reach the strut tower so I don't know why he would need to replace the whole side rail or what ever.

He also thinks the damage is 5,000 up to 6,000... It isn't for sure because thats not a solid estamate... but thats what he thinks. I have no idea what to do. With that type of damage cost, I am borderline total. What should I do?

Not really. If he has to replaced the apron assembly and or the lower rail, rad support, hood, fender, headlamp it's definately going to be up there.

There is hardly any " lower damage " the crumpling is a good 6 inches away from the strut tower. I really see no need to replace the entire side rail if only 1/4 of it is damaged. I am not angling for the car to be totaled, just want it repaired correctly... but all of these things add to the cost and bring it closer to a total.
