Primer-Sealer question
I dabble with the paint gun for kicks and the sealer primer is holding me up. I cant lay it down without a curtain showing its ugly face, orange peel appearing, or when it does go down great, i have alot debris, whether it be dust, trash, bugs, or whatever. This all takes place in my garage with plastic sheets and fans.
My questions is :
Is it acceptable, or even possible to let the primer sealer dry, then wetsand to my liking, and then top coat. I seem to get conflicting answers on this so im hoping it can be answered once and for all in here. thanks fellas.
if it helps any, i use a HF HVLP for the priming and a devilbiss GFG-670 for base\clear. The primer sealer is 2k Martin-Senour Urethane. Thanks again .

thats the thing. i've read the can and have p-sheets for everything and it says to let it flash then top coat.
im just wondering if i can overlook that and let it dry completely then sand it.

Do you blow off the surface, entire area and tack it. Also you might want to blow yourself off, so you know its not coming from you. Might just be your gagrage. No matter what, your goin to get particles in the paint, just flash off the 1st coat of base and de-nib it. I nib the 1st coat of base and again before the last coat. I do it dry of coarse w/ 1000-1500. Depending on the quality of base coat and what your painting you might not need to even seal the part. Generally I try to only seal things that need to be sealed, for example, If I have a part thats completley primed, prepped, I have no reason to spray more primer sealer over it. But I'm using qualty base coat over quality high build, but I wouldn't base over super high build poly type primer. I would't recommend wet sanding sealer thats intended to be a wet on wet process. You can of coarse if you had to but you would be better off prepping high build primer and base over that. Also It sounds like you maybe applying the sealer to thick w/ a slower hardener.
i didn't know you could spray on high-build. I'll give that a shot on some test panels i have. I've always read that top-coat had to go onto some sort of sealer or epoxy.
Just to clarify, I meant to prime w/ high build, cure, prep, then paint straight to base. Only if you prep it correctly and use quality base. It depends on what paint system your using and if its acceptable over specific surfaces/ substrates.
when u get some free time, and if you dont mind, could you shoot me a pm with some pointers\guidelines ? if you cant thats cool
ive been using the martin senour line. the base is their tec-base system. i dont where that stands on the paint quality hierarchy.
