My car will not idle or accelerate. just dies :(
That happened to me when I did a H22A swap in my lude (that I used to have) and it turned out that the ECU that came with it didn't work with my car. The swap came from a '95 Accord SiR which has a P05 ECU, the engine would barely idle and then die once I hit the gas. I plugged in a P13 and it ran perfect.
Unfotunately i already have a p13 pluged into it and it ran my buddys car just fine. Im a little worried about this because one motor b4 this did the EXACT same thing and slung a rod in my driveway a week after completion.
Thnx for the info

i actually cant get it wrong because the two wont reach each other. My sensors wires were taped shorter so that a mixup couldnt occure.
the engine would atleast run even if the timing was off.
i would swap the sensors just to be certain because this sounds like a simple fix.

he was referring to cam timing, not ignition. You cant adjust the ignition on OBDII h22's without an engine management like hondata, neptune...etc.

thats what i was speaking of aswell im 99.9% possitive that the timing is right but ill check it tomarow just in case.
Is there anything else thats possible? cuz this is the same thing my last motor did and they share the same head intake manifold and sensors. The head was still in great shape so i just purchased a new block.

Does any one else have any ideas that i should check tomarow? This is my main vehivle so if it doesnt get fixed soon im going to be in serious financial trouble.
Maybe try and get a fuel pressure gauge hooked up. I've recently had a similar problem which was the fuel pump failing.
Also check your injectors/ECU combination. The H22A4 has 290cc Saturated injectors, whilst the 94 Prelude is setup for the 345cc Peak & hold injectors with a resistor box.
Make sure your not still running the new Saturated injectors through the resistor box!

OK an update.... The vacume pressure is stable the fuel perssure is fine and the tps and the iacv are workin fine. If i can get it to about 5-6000 rps it dies down instant ly like the fuel supply is running down and it pings almost like the piston is slaping. Whatever it is its causing ALOT of pressure on the pistons and i dont want to sling anouther rod. SOMEONE HELP!!!!!!!!!
you know now that you metion it this is a usdm h22a4 and i have a JDM p13 ecu plugged in for a 94 model h22a(which is the motor this ecu ran fine). I wonder if this jdm ecu isnt working well with my injectors.
I would think since it's an OBDII motor you would need to run the '97-01 ECU, unless you have a OBD1 harness adapter to run the P13. The way you talk about it dying and running is exactly the way an engine would run with the wrong ECU. I know this from my H22A swap, like I said above. Just my guess...
nothing wrong with running an OBDI ecu on the OBDII motor.....you guys have never heard of people doing this?
i run an OBDI ecu and everything externally on my engine is OBDII.

Ive ran an obd1 ecu with a ob2 motor b4. This one is a little different though since the injectors were changed so drastically between 94 and 01. I just went to a friends house to barrow his skunk2 p13 ecu to try with my high flow h23 injectors and see if it will run a little better. wish me luck.....since its raining and pitch black due to this stupid storm off the gulf........
O, you're running 240cc injectors from a H23? H22As have 345s, that could be why it's running lean. And I forget what size the H22A4 came with. I bet you knew this already though, just trying to figure it out.

UPDATE: The skunk2 ecu ran the car MUCH better but its still made for h22a1 or an h22a SO although it didnt fix the problem it forced the injectors to flow MUCH more and hince made it run better. SOOOO conclusion is tht i need a set of h22a1 injectors to make this thing run.
IF ANYONE HAS A SET OF USED H22A1 injectors i NEED THEM BAD. ive got ecu's to every motor available in a prelude aswell as spare cranks, injectors, hardware, gaskets, intakes and misc block parts and i will GLADLY do a swap meet lol. im broke and need these injectors bad.

Ok ive confirmed that it IS my injectors.100% on this.
here are the specs ive found on this subject:
1992-96 Prelude Non VTEC Peak and Hold@240cc
1992-96 Prelude VTEC Peak and Hold@345cc
1997-up Prelude VTEC H22 Saturated@280cc
im using a 94 jdm p13 ecu which calls for the 345cc peak and hold injectors. the motor however has the saturated 280cc injectors HUGE difference. Thnx to every one for being so helpfull on this as i had no idea the injectors were so different between an a1 and a4.
LOOKING TO BUY H22A1 INJECTORS USED ARE PREFERED!!!! ALSO WILL TRADE OTHER PRELUDE MOTOR PARTS I HAVE PLENTY TO CHOSE FROM JUST LET ME KNOW!!!!!!!!!!! PLSSSSS

Don't forget, you'll also need the resistor box for the Peak & Hold type injectors.
I have a spare set of H22 345cc Injectors & a spare resisitor box, but I live in the UK. Just let me know if you need them
