Default Blowing fuses after hooking up vtec

Ok so i have sort of a cluster ***.

info:
92 civic dx originally auto now manual
d16y8
dx engine harness
p28ecu

1. did d16y8 swap with a 15g@7psi into a 92 civic dx (was originally auto also)
2.drove for 2 days without vtec hooked up and no problems
3.hooked up vtec into the shock tower connector according to the FAQ on honda tech, nothing in the FAQ about grounding the solenoid to chassis but since my buddies was grounded on his i did it also).
4 drove for 3 mins and poof blown ecu fuse.
5. un hooked vtec wires from connector(ground still grounded) and still blowing fuses.

try unhooking the ground, or maybe you grounded the wrong wire

Its was wired correct and grounded correctly, so i dont know. tomorrow im gonna reset the system unground the ground wire even though i dont see why it would effect things since the other 2 wires arent connected now, and then attempt to drive it again, just now i know to have mulitple 15amp fuses with me.

Just out of curiosity though is it even possible that if to much strain is put on a fuel pump would that cause the fuse to blow.

bump!

Did alittle more digging on honda tech and lots of people have had this issue, just one unrelated thing that they had and i dont is that mine actually drive for a while until it blows....theirs almost blows right away when starting.

Why don't you just splice the gorund into the harness? You probably blow the fuse everytime the solenoid wants to engage. Everyone else you say had problems probably had thier wires wrong.

Problem is i was still having issues after i unplugged the vtec wires after it blew the first time. I still have the original dx auto fuel pump, so im thinking the pump is working to hard and blowing the fuse. this sound possible?

Also the 92 came prewired except the actual engine harness for vtec so i shouldnt have to splice anything, the vtec engaged for a solid 2 6k revs before the ecu fuse blew, so im pretty sure that wireing is fine. But i dont know im not perfect so im still gonna double check.

I just did the same wiring in my car, I too have a 92 hatch, but I wasn't aware the DX also came pre-wired. This is obviously a wiring issue. I would trace back everything pre swap and make sure its all right.

I went back over the vtec wires i undid all the tape and crap and resoldered the few connections and heat shrinked for extra peice of mind, i even checked the wires with a meter and their showing 0 so everything is peachy. so gonna hook them back up and reset the system and attempt to road test it again >< so hopefully this is the cause. also gonna ground it to the valve cover this time so i know for sure its a good ground source.

fawking o2 sensor pinched between the charge pipe and downpipe o2 bung.

just happened to hook up the vtec the same day my turbo coupler blew off which brought me originally to the vtec conclusion, when i tightened the coupler down i must have pinch the o2 more.

unhooked it took it around the block, got into it and still no blown ecu fuse. ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. so yeah i hate cars, and the stupid **** that goes wrong, have a nice day.
