Default Possible clutch/tranny problem?

Lately my car has been having a problem where when I accelerate at a normal rate, it will sometimes (not too commonly) shake violently when the clutch is beginning to make full engagement, and does not seem to accelerate forward at a normal rate. It almost feels like the clutch has ABS (lol) but is much more violent shaking. Also since this problem I have noticed a small whining/grinding noise coming from the transmission, especially in 1st gear going down hills. Could these problems both be from a bad throw-out bearing?

Thanks.
